What Remains - Destigmatizing Dementia through Art

POSTPONED

Sarah Basha

Pop-up Exhibition and Book Launch

Time passes and some things fade, like color on a polaroid photo; yet some things remain. In this installation series, Sarah Basha uses the fact that polaroids fade as a metaphor, capturing moments, pushing us to see beyond what is altered by time (or by illness), to light up the essence of being and focus on what we cherish. This series is not only about the passing of time, but also about her own experience of navigating loss and how we construct, capture and hold on to memories as a way to connect us to people and places that transcend time and space.

The travelling exhibition launched in Brussels at Gallery 151 in September 2018 for Global Alzheimers Awareness Month. After having been postponed due to Covid 19 we are excited to have the exhibition in Lisbon, On July 23-30 at a ilha.

The artist will be creating a new layer for What Remains in every city. In Lisbon, during the exhibitions, Sarah will be taking portraits of visitors. The resulting colourful portrait poster series will be shown in various public spaces in September - from shop windows, to restaurants or community spaces. The art project serves to raise awareness for and destigmatize Dementia.

Soon at a ilha, Lisbon.
